[00:00:00] It seems that everyone I talked to lately is moving at warp speed. Life is feeling a bit fast. Do you feel it too? There's not enough space to breathe, to be still to recruit. Unless, of course you decide there's enough space, more on that in a moment in the province of Ontario, where I live, the provincial government passed legislation in December, 2021, around the right to disconnect in an effort to improve working conditions and reduce the negative impact of burnout on our mental.
[00:01:18] The line between home and work has gotten increasingly blurred during the pandemic and several of my group. And one-on-one clients have shared a belief that they're expected to be online late at night and early in the morning. One of my clients actually finds it difficult to leave the house for a half hour round trip walk to pick up her kids from daycare without bringing her work phone.
[00:01:39] Now, this was also an issue before COVID for many people, this idea of always being on and reachable of being available. Most of the time. I know I also had a messy relationship with long work hours myself while still in my senior corporate leadership. The truth is you can choose to make small changes that create the space. You need to breathe and take care of yourself. Small changes that move you towards what you want, and with a little success, your confidence in yourself, and in your ability to build healthy new habits and skills will grow. Yet.
[00:02:12] Well, you may know that different choices are in order. It's another thing altogether to actually follow through because so many things get in our way of following through all those meetings, the competing demands of home and work, the KPIs, the rollouts, the always growing task list, but the biggest culprit getting in your way.
[00:02:31] Not actually making the decision to make the results you want happen. Instead, you tell yourself you should get focused and make those small changes to lift yourself up out of the crazy, but you don't, there's just no space. You're already working a lot of hours and there's not much energy left over for you and the things that are important to you.
[00:02:52] So what's at stake. If we keep going this way. Well, you know, it's different for everyone to send. I invite you to ask yourself that question and actually journal about it. That said, I believe that what's at stake is our productivity, our effectiveness, our health. It's our impact in the world at home with our families and at work with our teams.
[00:03:13] That's what's at stake. Staying stuck in old patterns means you hit more roadblocks and it takes you longer to fight your way through them. Everything is harder when you're in reaction. One of the graduates. Have you reframed my group coaching experience for talent leaders is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
[00:03:32] We'll call her Janna. Janet truly wanted to positively impact the working lives of all of the talent people in her team and in her organization yet Sunday's just managing her own mindset. Felt like a tall. She regularly got overwhelmed with the amount of asks directed at her and her team. She felt hijacked by stakeholders who would question her proposals or make it difficult to secure resources for various talent initiatives that they just had to have.
[00:03:58] Additionally, she had dreams for her life outside work. Once she became an empty nester, which was coming up, these dreams were murky and stirred up fear as well as. So between everything going on at work and her sense of anxious, excitement about her future personal life, she'd get completely stuck and derailed in her own mind.
[00:04:18] The situation costs are great frustration given she never felt like she was fully getting traction on what she believed were the most important priorities and deep down she knew she was capable of more and was not living into her full potential. So Jenna made it. She was going to make a shift and she was going to get support in making it, when Jana started in the program, she realized that she was not clear on what she really wanted.
[00:04:44] She had a sense of it, but couldn't yet articulate. Now this is normal and it's really, really common. That's why the first pillar of the program is clarity. We start by running your true tilt profile as part of your pre-work. We check in with how things are currently exploring your strengths, your values, your frustrations, your accomplishments, what you're proud of from there, you begin to envision what you want in the future and dig into what's post.
[00:05:12] So through reflection, exercises, group discussions, goal feedback, and private coaching support. Jenna found the clarity she'd been wanting for so long. She developed solid goals for her work in the program and beyond, and knew how she would measure success. For example one of her goals involved becoming more proactive and prepared for big crucial conversations and means.
[00:05:34] The second pillar of the program is capability. In this stage, we learn about how to deliberately remove what no longer works and build habits that do work. And we practice practice practice throughout this phase, Jana focused on being more intentional about preparation. She spent time with the group and individually reflecting on her efforts and making incremental adjustments along the way as she kind of figured out what worked for her and what did.
[00:06:01] In the third pillar of the program, we focus on confidence. Now this is where you learn how to get unstuck, reframe difficulty, and become more intentional overall for Jenna. The concept of reframing situations was life. completely transformed her ability to get unstuck and stay on stock for longer periods of time.
[00:06:23] It's allowed her to be forward-thinking and more strategic, and to be seen that way, her leader noticed he actually commended her for how prepared and thoughtful she is for projects and related meetings. Feels that he values her and her work. This feeling then translates to higher motivation on her part and greater trust in herself.
[00:06:43] And guess what? Performance it's really elevated her performance, her influence it's it's a snowball effect all stemming from a decision to finally change things up and get some support during. So here's the thing you want to create a meaningful, positive impact in your life and your organization and increasing your impact starts from the inside.
[00:07:06] When talent management leaders are properly supported and do the important work of learning to self coach and manage their mindset, they increase their impact. This leads to sustained an elevated levels of engagement and performance throughout organizations. The domino effect is enormous and the potential impact is infinite.
[00:07:27] Can you tell why I'm excited? I mean, I just, I love this vision of talent leaders as multipliers, it's like they used to say in that old hair color, commercial, your worth it, you really don't have to tough it out alone. Consider private or group. With me or someone else just get support better yet.
[00:07:47] Get a combination of the two private and group coaching. I'm really excited because the next cohort of you reframed my group coaching experience, exclusively for talent management leaders is coming up soon. [00:08:29] Like you who are ready to overcome overwhelm and lead with intention and impact. as a talent leader, I see it all the time. You're so often alone in your organization. I've lived that I've had that experience. So this is a really powerful opportunity to enjoy connection and community with your peers in a safe space.
[00:08:47] You know, you're always arranging or delivering training coaching for everyone else. It's your turn for support and, and time to recharge. So you can keep on supporting the employees and the leaders who rely on you and your team. This is the only program of its kind designed, especially for talent leaders.
